So Mara found a contractor who was willing to give a pretty good price on redoing the back yard. The fluffs have been a little worried about all the noise going on outside, but are handling it pretty well. I think they’re going to fill the pond today, and we should have goldfish fairly soon. The bamboo and Japanese maples should grow to shade the back yard nicely in a few years.

We’ll have to see how we do on the front yard. The contractors managed to break most of the walkway we put down by driving a small tractor over it (funny how they had to drive it across several different portions of it), but they’ll also be replacing the walkway (at no extra charge) since they broke it, so I’m not terribly bothered. The curb strip where we put in lots of iceplant has also taken a beating from being driven over and having stones heaped on it; we’ll have to see how well it survives once the dust settles.
