Oh my. Having had my eyes burned with capsicum, you have my sympathies.

It wasn’t that bad; the problem was that I just couldn’t wash out the jalapeño oil from the lens, which had soaked up a bit of the oil when I touched the corner of my eye over an hour after I’d been handling the peppers. Unfortunately, my emergency saline supply for circumstances like that did not qualify as an organic solvent capable of dealing with the oil... good thing I wear disposables.

Is your perscription weak enough that you can function without the lenses? If that happened to me, I'd be useless unless I had my glasses nearby.

If it’d been both contacts, I would’ve been in trouble. Fortunately, it was only one, so I could drive home and swap in a new one.
