Max, I have two questions for you.

1. I've never seen these rants before you posted the link to them. Had you been working on them earlier or has this job just given you material?

2. On your tangent of "I paid for the bits, I own the bits" how would you handle getting money to a band that has broken up? Whose responsibility would it be to find the artists and pay them?

Back in 2001, my boss Bill Pabst suggested I should write down these things that I know. So when it occurs to me there’s something that I know that isn’t easy to learn, I just it down in an appropriate spot on my software engineering page. The rant page is part of that; I add rants when they occur to me. The ones I mention on my LiveJournal are new to that page.

If a band has broken up, it would still make sense for them to maintain a web site from which their music could be downloaded, and to which consumers could send money in exchange for that music.
