Wow, Mr. Hoffer sounds EXACTLY like G.O.M. (Grumpy Old Man), our next-door neighbor when I lived in Temecula. He was so mean, and had so much time on his hands, he would actually go to construction sites in our community to check for violations and rat on people. We were the Great Satan-- Dad's racecars and Model A in the driveway gave GOM fits, and there were two teenagers(!) in the house! Who knows what hellish crimes my brother and I could conceive of?!

He's probably in the abyss now, rapping on stalactites and citing Beelzebub for having too many flaming torture pits on his property.
