...rambling...

It’s amazing how one can take a break from debugging to refill the water glass and find that the mental energy needed to focus on the debugging has been used up for the day.
Reminds me of a time when I was in need of my next meal and observed: “Of course ascetics live on minimal food. It makes it much easier to empty the mind when you’re on low blood sugar. Keeping the mind empty after a Big Mac and a large Coke— that’s a challenge for a Zen master!”

2. If I'm doing something new (developing a new approach to something, experimenting with new systems, etc), it's a sign to put the shell down for a bit. The creative juices have spoken.

Date: 2004-06-15 03:28 pm (UTC)I don't have mch of a problem with short breaks- I need to take them or I get distracted from the project. It's lunches that kill me with distraction and loss of concentration. Whewn I come back from lunch I find that there's a whole new batch of affing about that needs to be done before I restart the project, and then it's 3:30 and time for my break, and hey, this paperwork has been stalled for days, better get it out before doing anything else...
Moral? Get me to do things in the morning.
