Finally traded in the crufty old 17” monitor that was on my desk for a 19” Viewsonic G90f. 1600×1200×32bits is nice... but I’m curious about that 2048×1536×32bits that the ViewSonic drivers claim is possible but won’t do under Windows XP. That could be really interesting...

xplanet is looking pretty nifty as long as I stick to really huge maps of the Earth, but the cloud patterns are starting to look a little grainy.

One can always crank up the font size if text gets too small; the high resolution then makes the text more readable. DOesn’t help when idiot web designers specify things by pixel size rather than the usual relative sizes or point sizes (which should be scaled to your monitor’s dpi), though...
