Are there any Republicans left like Teddy Roosevelt? And if so, how do we get them to come out of hiding and take back their party?

I don't know for certain when the switch took place, but wouldn't a Republican by the standards of Teddy's day be considered a Democrat by our standards?

I can't figure out how to get the Religious Right out of control of the Republicans, so that the large number of fiscally conservative but basically decent people out there can have a voice again. How does one attack the RR without being accused of "attacking God" or "attacking the foundation of our Christian nation" (which is spurious but a common blind spot/misconception)?

Perhaps by finding some untarnished Christians to speak up for the values that Yeshua ben Yusuf promulgated and ask people to consider whether the RR are following those values when they act like assholes?
