Someone in my network on Care2 broadcast a message that because Bush and Kerry were both bad, he wasn’t voting at all this year. I responded: “Bush will send us to Hell in a handbasket faster than Kerry. I’m voting for Kerry as damage control.”

the guy wasn't a Green, was he? They've been getting a touch defensive these days.

It might be considered a sad statement to say that the best way to vote is for the person you'd least hate to see elected- but it's a tried and true method. It might also be worth considering that it serves the current party to have as much of a "they're both bastards, why bother" attitude as possible. Low voter turnout favors the incumbent.

There is just a part of me that hears the complaints from voters on both sides and remembers the term "learned helplessness."
