Microsoft finds new depths of incompetence

This time, they’ve managed to document in their IFS kit a particular function, RtlCreateSecurityDescriptorRelative(), which has supposedly been present since Windows 2000. It exists in header files, but is not exported from any libraries. Their documented set of functions for manipulating security objects at the driver level is so incomplete as to be nearly useless; an interesting contrast to their user-level API, which is redundant and inconsistent.

obsessivewoman, you’ll be proud of me: I did not vent virtual bile at the Microsoft recruiter who was foolish enough to send me E-mail this afternoon.

I’d gotten as far as “In my extensive professional experience, Microsoft are purveyors of the most badly designed, poorly documented, and generally incompetent code I’ve ever seen in my life, and I do not seek to sully my good name by associating it with that of Microsoft.” before I decided I really shouldn’t try talking with the recruiter.

I can see why you would stop. While you would never work for them, there is no sense in torching that bridge.
