mithriltabby: Ancient Roman icosahedral die (Game)

This is for games set in the modern era with a hidden mystic aspect.

The Mystic Mime Garb is an enchanted set of mime clothing, from hat on down. Anyone donning the garb will suffer the following effects:

  1. Their face will turn white and acquire a unique (per person) set of markings consistent with standard mime styles.
  2. They will be able to see into the mystic world. (In the World of Darkness, for example, they would be immune to the Delirium, would not count as a Sleeper for purposes of Paradox, and would be able to perceive wraiths and the fae seemings of changelings. Under In Nomine, they would possess Symphonic Awareness.)
  3. Their voice will only be audible by supernatural beings and people with mystic senses.
In terms of effectiveness, it’s very useful for bringing a mundane into a party full of magical beings (who will all be able to hear the normal speak). It even helps such a person blend in: if a person interacts with things other people can’t see, bystanders will think he’s crazy, but if that person is dressed as a mime, they’ll just think he’s a mime and may even throw money at him.

In terms of style, though, who’s want to adventure as a mime?

It's a cursed item, however-- it makes the wearer exceedingly irritating, even if they're just standing there, and all in a 20 ft. radius must save vs. wanting to beat the crap out of him/her.

I love it! I might even create a character who would be okay with wearing it. Okay, yeah, it'd take some work, but...

There's a great mime character in the comic Mister Blank. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0943151252/102-9016166-5320119?v=glance) She talks, though, so much for accuracy.

The Mime only speaks at the end of the comic though, and for a very good reason. She also has one of the most utterly cool "theme" powers I've ever seen in a character.

Then again, "utterly cool" just defines "Mister Blank" all over.

OK, I've always assumed that people finding mimes annoying was a put-on, similar to - but less serious and less vehement than, say, the ritual detestation of Texans in Colorado.

Why is a mime anywhere near as annoying as a street musician - especially a bad one?

You have never had one follow you down the street and hit you up for money, I take it? Musicians at least have the decency to stay put.
